One of the three national credit bureaus, the company has collected consumer credit data since 1899 and sells it to lenders deciding whether to extend credit. The other large asset is The Work Number, a payroll database employers contribute to that verifies income and employment for mortgage and lending decisions, and which competitors cannot easily replicate. A 2017 breach exposing data on roughly 147 million people produced regulatory settlements and a lasting rebuild of security spending. Mortgage volume drives the cyclical portion of revenue. Headquarters are in Atlanta.

If a meaningful share of your net worth sits in EFX, concentration risk is the question. This calculator quantifies drawdown impact at 30 / 50 / 70%, and the trade-off between selling down (tax cost now) versus hedging (option premium drag), auto-filled with EFX's option-implied volatility.
Example: 5,000 EFX shares at $181.84 is a $909,200 position. A 30% drawdown costs $272,760; a 50% drawdown costs $454,600; a 70% drawdown costs $636,440. The calculator quantifies the trade-off between selling down (immediate capital-gains tax) and hedging (option premium drag) using EFX's option-implied volatility and your cost basis.
