The second largest American waste company assembled itself through consolidation, most significantly the 2008 acquisition of Allied Waste, which nearly doubled it. The business collects residential, commercial, and industrial waste under municipal franchise agreements and long-term contracts, then disposes of it in company-owned landfills, capturing margin at both ends. Contract pricing is often indexed to inflation, giving revenue a built-in escalator. Environmental services for industrial waste were added through the 2022 US Ecology deal. Headquarters are in Phoenix.
