Priceline launched in 1997 selling name-your-own-price airline tickets, nearly failed after the dot-com crash, and was rescued by a 2005 European acquisition: Booking.com, an Amsterdam hotel-reservations business that became the company's engine and eventually its name. The group also runs Agoda, Kayak, OpenTable, and Priceline. Revenue is agency commission on accommodation bookings, which makes it capital-light and exceptionally sensitive to travel demand, as 2020 demonstrated. Headquarters are in Norwalk, Connecticut, though most bookings and employees sit in Europe.

Booking Holdings equity questions

How much does it cost to hedge BKNG stock?
The cost of a protective put depends on how far below the current price you set the floor, how long the protection lasts, and BKNG's option-implied volatility. A zero-cost collar lowers that cost by selling away some upside. The calculator above prices both structures off the current BKNG option chain and shows the annual cost, maximum loss, and tax treatment.
Does Booking Holdings grant ISOs, NSOs, or RSUs?
Equity compensation at Booking Holdings typically takes the form of restricted stock units (RSUs). Restricted stock units are taxed as ordinary income when they vest.
Do Booking Holdings RSUs use double-trigger vesting?
No. Booking Holdings restricted stock units (RSUs) use single-trigger vesting: each tranche becomes yours as it vests on schedule, taxed as ordinary income at that point, with no liquidity event required.
