About General Dynamics

General Dynamics (GD) is a public Aerospace/Defense company, incorporated in Delaware and headquartered in Reston, VA.

Equity grants at General Dynamics typically include restricted stock units (RSUs).

General Dynamics Corporation (GD) is an American industrial and technology company based in Reston, Virginia. It is primarily a developer and producer of advanced military equipment of a wide variety, such as nuclear submarines, main battle tanks, and armoured fighting vehicles. It is also the manufacturer of the civilian aviation Gulfstream business jets and a provider of information technology services. The company is the 3rd largest of the top 100 contractors of the U.S. federal government; it receives over 3% of total spending by the federal government of the United States on contractors.

The company traces to Electric Boat, the 1899 submarine builder, and took its current name in 1952. Four businesses run today: Electric Boat still builds Virginia and Columbia class submarines for the Navy, Land Systems makes the Abrams tank and Stryker vehicles, Mission Systems supplies defense electronics and IT services, and Gulfstream builds business jets. That last segment is unusual among primes, tying part of results to corporate and high-net-worth demand rather than defense budgets alone. Headquarters are in Reston, Virginia.

General Dynamics equity questions

How much does it cost to hedge GD stock?
The cost of a protective put depends on how far below the current price you set the floor, how long the protection lasts, and GD's option-implied volatility. A zero-cost collar lowers that cost by selling away some upside. The calculator above prices both structures off the current GD option chain and shows the annual cost, maximum loss, and tax treatment.
Does General Dynamics grant ISOs, NSOs, or RSUs?
Equity compensation at General Dynamics typically takes the form of restricted stock units (RSUs). Restricted stock units are taxed as ordinary income when they vest.
Do General Dynamics RSUs use double-trigger vesting?
No. General Dynamics restricted stock units (RSUs) use single-trigger vesting: each tranche becomes yours as it vests on schedule, taxed as ordinary income at that point, with no liquidity event required.
