About Micron
Micron (MU) is a public Semiconductors company, incorporated in Delaware and headquartered in Boise, ID.

Micron Technology, Inc. is an American multinational semiconductor company that manufactures computer memory and computer data storage products, including dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), flash memory, High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), and solid-state drives (SSDs). Founded in 1978 in Boise, Idaho, Micron is the only major American computer memory manufacturer. It is one of the "Big Three" computer memory manufacturers, along with the South Korean companies Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.

Four Boise engineers started the company in a dentist office basement in 1978, backed by local potato magnate J.R. Simplot. It is now one of three memory makers left at scale, alongside Samsung and SK Hynix, selling DRAM and NAND flash into datacenters, phones, and cars, plus consumer SSDs under the Crucial brand. The business is famously cyclical: memory pricing swings drive revenue and margins far more than share gains do. Micron bought out its Intel partnership stake in IM Flash and Inotera in Taiwan, and remains the only US-headquartered maker of both DRAM and NAND.

Micron equity questions
- How much does it cost to hedge MU stock?
- The cost of a protective put depends on how far below the current price you set the floor, how long the protection lasts, and MU's option-implied volatility. A zero-cost collar lowers that cost by selling away some upside. The calculator above prices both structures off the current MU option chain and shows the annual cost, maximum loss, and tax treatment.
- Does Micron grant ISOs, NSOs, or RSUs?
- Equity compensation at Micron typically takes the form of restricted stock units (RSUs). Restricted stock units are taxed as ordinary income when they vest.
- Do Micron RSUs use double-trigger vesting?
- No. Micron restricted stock units (RSUs) use single-trigger vesting: each tranche becomes yours as it vests on schedule, taxed as ordinary income at that point, with no liquidity event required.
