Milton Hershey founded the company in 1894 and built a company town in Pennsylvania around the factory, endowing a school for orphaned children with his fortune. The Hershey Trust, which funds that school, retains voting control and has blocked outside takeover attempts, most visibly in 2002 and 2016. The portfolio spans Hershey's, Reese's, Kit Kat under a United States license, and salty snacks including SkinnyPop. Cocoa costs and Halloween and holiday seasonality drive results. Headquarters remain in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Hershey equity questions

How much does it cost to hedge HSY stock?
The cost of a protective put depends on how far below the current price you set the floor, how long the protection lasts, and HSY's option-implied volatility. A zero-cost collar lowers that cost by selling away some upside. The calculator above prices both structures off the current HSY option chain and shows the annual cost, maximum loss, and tax treatment.
Does Hershey grant ISOs, NSOs, or RSUs?
Equity compensation at Hershey typically takes the form of restricted stock units (RSUs). Restricted stock units are taxed as ordinary income when they vest.
Do Hershey RSUs use double-trigger vesting?
No. Hershey restricted stock units (RSUs) use single-trigger vesting: each tranche becomes yours as it vests on schedule, taxed as ordinary income at that point, with no liquidity event required.
