William Procter and James Gamble, brothers-in-law, founded the soap and candle business in Cincinnati in 1837. The company effectively invented brand management and sponsored radio serials that became soap operas. Its portfolio concentrates on daily-use categories with pricing power: Tide, Pampers, Gillette, Bounty, Charmin, and Olay. A 2014 pruning cut roughly a hundred brands to focus on the largest. An activist campaign by Nelson Peltz in 2017 produced the closest proxy fight in corporate history. Headquarters remain in Cincinnati.

  • RSUs use single-trigger vesting: shares become yours as each portion vests on schedule, and the value is taxed as ordinary income at that point. No IPO or acquisition is required.

A protective put caps your downside on the PG position at a chosen floor; a zero-cost collar pays for that floor by capping the upside. This calculator prices both structures off the current PG option chain, with annual cost, max loss, and tax-treatment notes.

Example: a 5,000-share PG position at $145.28 is worth $726,400. A 1-year 30%-OTM put on that position typically runs 2-4% of position value per year (about $14,528 to $29,056) before any premium offset from a short call. The calculator prices both structures off PG's current option chain so you see the actual cost for your chosen floor, tenor, and cap.

Procter & Gamble equity questions

How much does it cost to hedge PG stock?
The cost of a protective put depends on how far below the current price you set the floor, how long the protection lasts, and PG's option-implied volatility. A zero-cost collar lowers that cost by selling away some upside. The calculator above prices both structures off the current PG option chain and shows the annual cost, maximum loss, and tax treatment.
Does Procter & Gamble grant ISOs, NSOs, or RSUs?
Equity compensation at Procter & Gamble typically takes the form of restricted stock units (RSUs). Restricted stock units are taxed as ordinary income when they vest.
Do Procter & Gamble RSUs use double-trigger vesting?
No. Procter & Gamble restricted stock units (RSUs) use single-trigger vesting: each tranche becomes yours as it vests on schedule, taxed as ordinary income at that point, with no liquidity event required.
