Alex d'Arbeloff and Nick DeWolf founded the company in 1960 in Boston, building equipment that tests semiconductors after manufacture. Automated test equipment remains the core: every chip in a phone or car passes through a tester, and Teradyne competes mainly with Advantest for that market. A second business arrived through the 2015 Universal Robots acquisition and later Mobile Industrial Robots, putting collaborative robot arms alongside the test franchise. Headquarters are in North Reading, Massachusetts, and revenue swings with semiconductor capital spending.

Teradyne equity questions
- How much does it cost to hedge TER stock?
- The cost of a protective put depends on how far below the current price you set the floor, how long the protection lasts, and TER's option-implied volatility. A zero-cost collar lowers that cost by selling away some upside. The calculator above prices both structures off the current TER option chain and shows the annual cost, maximum loss, and tax treatment.
- Does Teradyne grant ISOs, NSOs, or RSUs?
- Equity compensation at Teradyne typically takes the form of restricted stock units (RSUs). Restricted stock units are taxed as ordinary income when they vest.
- Do Teradyne RSUs use double-trigger vesting?
- No. Teradyne restricted stock units (RSUs) use single-trigger vesting: each tranche becomes yours as it vests on schedule, taxed as ordinary income at that point, with no liquidity event required.
